Before she was a golfer, Liz Heron was Gordon Herron's caddy. However, after Gordon was paralysed by a lightning strike, the pair switched roles, with Gordon becoming her coach and caddy. Heron went on to win the 1995 Colgate Cup, and was named "Lady Sports Personality of the Year" bye She magazine. She that she was four months pregnant on Knowing Me, Knowing Yule.
Heron had a loud personality, with an annoying laugh which Alan Partridge likened to the noise of a bird. She had little general knowledge, reciting a completely fabricated version of the history of golf, and being under the impression that millipedes have a million legs.
